| Once you've written your story, you spend a lot of time working with it to polish it, to make it shine. Naturally, you worry about how it sounds, about the readers will appreciate it, about whether or not it's good.
In this workshop, I'll guide you through editing and improving your short stories. Each participant will submit one short story at the beginning of class. Then, each day we will read and comment as a group on one of the submitted works. Special attention will be paid to the workshop process itself. By focusing on one story at a time, participants will learn not only the art of writing, but the art of reading and reviewing. This important skill will help you develop your "ear" as a writer and enable you to better evaluate your own work. PREREQUISITES: Your Short Story. This course represents a very fast-paced short-story course. Please submit your story before the course so that I will have adequate time to read it and post discussion questions in time for student feedback. Currently, this course has been delayed due to lack of students. If you are interested in this course, please register below. When four or more students have registered, we'll start this course. Your information remains confidential - I will not share your name or e-mail address with anyone else, period. If you would prefer not to be added to the newsletter e-mail list, just let me know (but I know you'll want copies of the newsletter...and that you'll want to submit stories, too...) |
